What firefighter embroidery actually requires
Firefighters don’t wear just anything, and the embroidery follows real rules — some of them written into the union contract. Here’s what we build for:
- Nomex thread and Nomex patches, when your contract requires it. Many departments and IAFF contracts require station‑wear embroidery and patches to use Nomex (flame‑resistant meta‑aramid) thread and Nomex patch backing. We digitize your design for Nomex production so it meets the requirement — not just whatever thread is on the cone.
- Patches done right. A department crest or Maltese‑cross patch is digitized for patch twill with a clean satin or merrow‑style border, so it holds its shape and edge.
- Job shirts and station uniforms. Left‑chest crest, name and rank, a bold back — sized and built for the garment.
- Your authorized artwork. Send your department crest or IAFF local design that you have the right to use; we digitize that. We don’t supply official IAFF or agency marks.

- Can you embroider my turnout coat?
- No — never. Needle holes compromise FR turnout gear. We do station uniforms, job shirts and patches only.
- Can you digitize our IAFF local logo?
- Yes, from your authorized artwork. We digitize the design your local has the right to use; we don’t provide the official IAFF mark itself.
- Can you make department patches?
