Unzip2Stitch FAQ

The things people ask most about Unzip2Stitch. Still stuck? Just ask me.

What is Unzip2Stitch?

It’s embroidery design software you own, for Mac and Windows — it finds and organizes your whole design library, then lets you create with it: add lettering, build monograms, combine and edit designs, and save to the format your machine reads. Learn more →

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free Embroidery Lettering edition lets you type names and words with the embroidery fonts you already own. It’s the same app as the paid version — a Creator code unlocks the full studio when you’re ready. Download free →

What’s the difference between free and the full version?

The free edition is your font library — type and letter with the fonts you own. Unzip2Stitch Creator (the full version) adds everything else: your whole design library, combining and editing designs, monograms, density control, hoop layout, and every machine export format.

Is it a subscription?

No. Unzip2Stitch is a one-time purchase — buy it once and it’s yours, with free updates. No monthly fee, nothing expires.

What are the system requirements?

Mac: Apple Silicon (M1 or newer), macOS 11 or later.  Windows: Windows 10 & 11, 64-bit.

How do I install it?

Download the app and follow a couple of quick steps for your system. See the install guide →

How do I unlock the full version?

Open Unzip2Stitch, click “I already have a code,” and paste the activation code from your order email. The full studio unlocks instantly — same app, nothing to reinstall.

Do I have to unzip my files first?

No — Unzip2Stitch opens the zip file for you. That’s where the name comes from.

Will it work with my fonts?

It gathers every embroidery font you own — including your BX fonts — into one library, so you can find and use them all in one place and never lose one again.

What formats can I save to?

The format your machine reads — PES, DST, JEF and the other common machine formats.

What if I change computers?

Your licence is yours — it moves with you to a new computer. Just install Unzip2Stitch and enter your code again.

Do I get updates?

Yes — free updates, forever. You can download the latest version any time from the downloads page.
